Birthday Boy

I keep telling Mama to get off the computer so I can post some pics for you guys, but she never listens. I finally got a chance to sneak in, so here are some late pics from my birthday party!

On the morning of the party, Mama let me wear my party hat! I picked out the color all by myself. I love pink!

I also love looking at my reflection. I'm a handsome devil.

Dada helped me blow out my candles. I didn't really understand what he was doing. But I did like the cars on the cake!

I also liked the cake. It was egg and nut free!

My friend Amalia came to the party too. We had fun opening my presents.

Last Day at Sally's

Today was my last day going to Sally's house. We had a cookie party! All my friends were there. Andy, Tommy, Rylie, Aaiden, and Bella and me ate lots of cookies and had lots of fun. I will miss my Sally and all my friends. They gave me a picture of all of us to remember them by. I already love it!

Mommy took a couple pictures of me and Bella and Andy when she came to pick me up. Everyone else was still asleep.

Eli's First Airplane Ride.

I went on an airplane a couple weeks ago! First I was just really excited because I got to see big airplanes up close through the window.

Then Mommy asked me if I wanted to ride in one. Of course, I said YEAH! I was very good in the airplane to Nana and Grandpa's house. Mommy was so surprised!

At Nana and Grandpa's house I played and played.

Then I got to ride another airplane! This was the calmest I was for the trip home. Shortly after Mommy took this picture I had a meltdown! I wanted to stay at the window and watch the airplane, but Mommy wanted to get ON the airplane and I did NOT want to wait in line. Mommy says that next time we're bringing Daddy!

I've been a real renaissance boy lately. When I grow up I want to be EVERYTHING!

I can facepaint now.

And I can turn a crank.

Or play with your lighting.

Not to mention your plumbing.

And I've gotten really good at playing with bubbles!

Although sometimes I still eat them.

I can build you a nice house!

I've also been working on my writing skills. I'm a master at making hatch marks.

Of course, I am still super awesome at walking in circles.

And I'm also turning into a real explorer.

I'll also open doors for you, if you want me too (so long as they're real doors).

This weekend I figured out how to go down a slide on my butt instead of my tummy!

I'm a really great driver too.

And a very patient passenger.

Music, of course, is a given. But I still haven't decided what instrument I want to play.

Mommy took a mazillion pictures of me today. I guess I looked extra cute or something.

I finally had enough of Mommy taking pictures of me, so I tried to steal her camera!

Oh! I almost forgot! Yesterday we went to the park and I had so much fun. I really need to learn not to throw sand though. At least that's what Mommy keeps saying. But she's old and doesn't know anything. Throwing sand is cool!

This is over a week late, but here are the pics from my most recent trip to Madison. Mommy and Daddy and I went to visit my new cousin, Evelyn. Mommy didn't get any pictures of baby Evelyn, though, because she was busy sleeping and Mommy didn't want to disturb her. But believe me, she's a cool cousin, and so beautiful!

My Daddy the Lawyer

My daddy is a lawyer now. At least that's what Mommy keeps telling me. Yesterday we went to a big party and everyone was wearing these funny outfits, including Daddy! I thought everyone wearing one WAS Daddy! Mommy kept reminding me, though, that the other people were not Daddy. I got to wear my new vest that Mommy made special for Daddy's party! I also got to wear Daddy's special hat. I wanted to wear it all morning, but Daddy had to wear it at the party, so I couldn't.

Grandma kept me busy before the ceremony started.

But the ceremony was really long and I was really bored, so Mommy and I eventually went out into the hall to play after Daddy walked across the stage. I wasn't the only one bored in there!

Then Daddy came out to see us and we took more pictures!

After Daddy's graduation, we hung out at the hotel with Nana and Grandpa. We went swimming and it really tuckered me out! Luckily, there was a giant smooshy bed all for me!

I had so much fun this weekend. Nana even let me try on her shoes! There's nothing better than shoes, let me tell ya...

New Bike & New 'Do

Mommy and Daddy got me a bike! Or "circle," as I like to call it. It's so fun! I also got a new hat to wear with it. I'm a lucky boy.

I also got a new haircut! Mommy did it for me. I was not happy about having her touch my hair. But Mommy was getting frustrated with the snarls I kept getting in the back of my head, so off it went!

We were in Madison AGAIN last weekend because Mommy and Daddy had interviews on Tuesday. I like going to Madison because Nana and Grandpa always let me do whatever I want! I met my second cousin Sammy on Saturday. We had so much fun! And on Sunday Uncle Gene and Chica came over and I hung out with Chica and Marley. I love doggies! I also got to see my Grandpa Schehr on Saturday. We went to Ella's Deli and I got to see all the really cool toys they keep on the walls and ceiling. I also went on the carousel, but I'm not too fond of the horses. Maybe it was just too soon after eating...

Because Mommy couldn't quite fit these into the last post...

Mommy took a video of me playing with the plastic easter grass that came in my easter basket from Grandma Larson. It was so fun! Mommy is STILL picking up pieces of plastic grass. The fun never ends!

And here's me and Marley playing together. Mommy and Daddy say Marley is a VERY good dog. I think so too. He's fun! They also say he's very patient with me. I don't know what that means, but I know I like it!

Busy Weekend!

On Friday, I stayed home with Daddy! We drew circles and colored.

After Mommy got home, I put on my new hat and rode my car outside. It was fun!

Yesterday, I had a little one on one time with Marley. He's my best buddy!

Before nigh-nights we went outside AGAIN and played with bubbles. (I told you it was nice out!) I LOOOOOVE bubbles!!! I kept trying to catch them, but I just couldn't figure out how to not break them.

I also got my first dirty knee of the season!

I was having such a good time I didn't want to go inside. The only way Mommy could get me inside was to let me bring my chair with me.

This morning the Easter bunny came! I was so excited that I woke up at 4:45 a.m.! Daddy told me I had to go back to sleep though... But it was worth the wait.

I had my very first peep.

And a chocolate egg!

Later, because it was so nice out, we went outside and I got to draw with my new sidewalk chalk and play with my new cars!

Mommy drew some shapes for me today and told me to color them in. I don't think she knew I could do it because she seemed VERY surprised when I actually tried to color them in. Not too shabby for my first time, eh? Mommy's shape drawing, on the other hand, needs serious work.

Lest you think me and Mommy hang out by the window ALL day, here is a bit of proof that I'm also quite fond of my new toy shelf. And yes, that *is* a fancy headband I'm wearing. Mommy made it for me and I insisted on wearing it for a few hours. You'll also notice the bear I'm playing with is wearing a diaper. Sometimes I hate having my diaper changed, but if Mr. Bear gets a diaper change too, it's easier. He's also planning on teaching me to use the potty at some point in the future.

Mommy and I had fun this afternoon. I had fun playing, and Mommy had fun pointing her camera at me!

Here I am demonstrating that I understand the concept of up and down! Mommy and I went to the Mall of America today and watched a lot of rides go up and down too! I even went on two rides for the first time. I wasn't super excited about the carousel, but I really liked the ferris wheel!

Today was a whirlwind of activity!

First, I learned how to paint with my hands! At first it felt kinda weird.

But I quickly caught on and really liked it.

Now Mommy and Daddy can officially say, "my toddler could paint that!" whenever they're at a museum of modern art!

Did I mention that Mommy got a new camera? Well, she did! She took lots of pictures of me today to test it out.

This afternoon we went to the zoo! I loved the dolphin tank most of all. Every time the dolphin swam by I pointed it out to Mommy and Daddy.

It was a special day at the zoo today. They were having an indoor beach party! Mommy and Daddy let me play in the sand because I'm a big boy now and don't eat sand.

I even made a couple new friends!

After the beach party, it was time to go home. Don't worry, it wasn't the end of the action, just the end of Mommy's photo-taking extravaganza!

Mommy & Daddy think I have toddler OCD. It's just that sometimes I want things JUST SO. Like my crayons, for instance.

First, I had them in a line on my right. But that wasn't quite what I needed. So then I tried a semi-circle.

Still not quite right. So I tried ANOTHER line, but this time on my left side.

Perfect! Now I can color!

My Grandma Larson sent me a cookie in the mail for Valentine's Day and Mommy let me eat it today. I'm not sure what she thought was so funny though...

Also, yesterday we went to the Children's Museum again! (Mommy and Daddy got a membership so we can go ALL THE TIME!!!) Mommy tried to teach me how to paint my own face.

I tried, but I kept wanting to eat it or draw on the table instead of my face. So Mommy ended up doing most of my face for me.

Then I found this really neat hollow log. Daddy wasn't sure about the log, but I told him there was nothing to be afraid of.

See? That giant spider is nothing to be afraid of. He's more afraid of you than you are of him. Silly Daddy!

I also saw some fish! I said hi to them.

And I went on a slide. I love slides!

Later, Mommy tried to get a cute picture of my painted face. I gave her many good poses!

I still don't understand why she stopped after that last one! I was working it!

Museums are GREAT!

I went to a museum with Mommy and Daddy this weekend. It's called the Minnesota Children's Museum. If all museums are as fun as this one and the one I went to in Milwaukee, then count me as a HUGE fan.

One of my favorite parts was that I got to play with water!

I definitely need one of these at home.

Better yet, I need a bubble tub! I got bubbles everywhere!

After Mommy and Daddy dragged me away from the bubbles, with promises of more fun to come, we went to the ball exhibit!

I played with a giant ball run, along with a bunch of older kids. But I know how these things work, so I fit right in.

Then we went to the toddler area of the ball exhibit and I found the biggest ball I could pick up. I'm surprisingly strong for my size. At least, that's what Mommy says.

After playing with the balls, we went to the habitot room. Right away I found a slide! Of course, it was a really, REALLY slow slide. And after Mommy and Daddy stopped laughing, they told me it wasn't actually a slide at all, but a ramp that I was supposed to WALK on! It took a little getting used to, but I eventually walked on the slide/ramp.

I also walked on a moving bridge for the first time. I wasn't sure what to make of it at first, but after testing it's stability, I was a pro.

I also did a bit of building, of course.

Then Mommy showed me a great big window where I could see cars! I let Mommy and Daddy know what I saw by saying "vrroom! car! car!"

In the last part of the museum that we visited, I found a Marley house! I knew exactly what to do.

Before Mommy's interview, we went to see Aunt Darcy at her office. I got to walk around, and she took us to have lunch.

I demanded more cuddling!

And I got it :)

Later, Mommy showed me her picture on Facebook and I waved to her. I hope I get to see her again soon!

Last weekend.

Apparently, Mommy only wants to take pictures of me on weekends anymore. Last weekend, we went to Madison (again!) because Mommy had another interview.

I got to see my Uncle Kyle. I wasn't sure whether he could be trusted at first. I know he used to have a beard, and I don't like beards.

But when I got a little closer, I noticed he was smiling, not growling!

Eventually, I warmed up to him and we were good buddies.

Oh! And Mommy got a new phone because she washed her last one in Nana's washing machine. It plays music! I like to carry it and dance.

I like to play at Nana and Grandpa's house. Last weekend, I found the perfect spot to sit and play. I sat there a lot!

Mommy finished my new sweater last weekend too! I think I look mighty handsome in it. And yeah, that's a tiny little tear on my face. I don't like having things over my eyes, and was not happy about Mommy putting the sweater over my head. She's lucky I look so good in it, or I would have been extra mad!

Also, on Monday I got to visit with my Aunt Darcy! I'll put some pictures up later though, because they're still on Daddy's iPhone.

Vacations!

Okay, are you ready? This is going to be loooooong...

I went on vacation 2 weeks ago. I went to Nana & Grandpa's house in Madison. While I was on vacation, Mommy and Daddy went on a cruise (they had to do SOMETHING while I was relaxing).

So while I was helping the good folks at Olbrich Gardens to pick up fallen tropical nuts,

Mommy and Daddy were hanging out in Cozumel.

And while I was tasting red,

Mommy and Daddy were playing on swings and drinking grown up drinks.

And while I was snuggling with Nana,

Mommy and Daddy were crossing a pretty river in Belize!

While I helping showing Grandpa how to use the computer,

Mommy and Daddy were visiting Mayan ruins.

While I was trying out my new rain boots,

Mommy and Daddy were snorkeling in Costa Maya.

And while I was busy building things,

Mommy and Daddy were hanging out in port.

While I was learning to drive,

Mommy was stuck in the stocks in the Bahamas.

And finally, while I was being a daredevil,

Mommy and Daddy were coming back home to pick me up from my vacation!

We went to a Christmas party at Mommy's work yesterday. It was just for kids, and I had cookies and milk, and I got a toy! It was pretty fun.

I also got to color.

And there was a band there! I love music. Mommy says it puts me in a trance. I started out dancing in the back, but eventually moved all the way to the front of the stage with the big kids!

I also met a couple of Santa's friends, although I didn't meet the big man himself. Mommy and Daddy thought I'd be too intimidated. I wasn't sure about Santa's friends at all. I can't imagine the kinda guy who hangs out with these shady characters!

Pajama Day!

Yesterday Mommy stayed home from work and we had a pajama party! We had so much fun.

We played with the light sabers that Grandma Sandy gave me.

Although I had to explain the rules to Mommy again, AND convince her to put the dang camera away so we could play!

Finally, just before bedtime (you can tell because I'm in different jammies), I showed Mommy & Daddy how smart I am!

I played in the snow today! It was my first time and I had so much fun! I could have stayed outside all day, but Mommy thought it was pretty chilly and didn't want me to get too cold, so we went inside after about 20 minutes. Mommy took a lot of pictures. And yes, my boots are pink. Real men wear pink. Just ask my Uncle Rich & Grandpa Bob.

When we went inside, Mommy let me lead the way. I showed her how I could find the right door!

Also, today Mommy and I went to the mall for a mommy-son day (on a Sunday, get it?). We got pictures taken!

Finally, I followed it all up with a before bedtime bottle and snuggle with Mommy, which is rare these days, since I'm such a big boy now.

Oh, and for those of you keeping track, I cut my other front top tooth this weekend. That makes five teeth!

Remember how I had to go to the hospital?

Well, I'm feeling much better now. I'm back to my usual self, only now with new and improved STANDING!

Mommy likes this picture because we look so small.

But I like this one because you can see me better!

I got so tuckered out from standing that I fell asleep holding my own foot!

This week I got a birthday present in the mail from Aunt Darcy and Uncle Rich. It's so COOL! I can use it to stand and walk.

I can put stuff in it, like plastic shapes. Or socks!

And I can even ride on it!

Mommy and Daddy had this great party planned for my first birthday. All my friends and family were going to be there, and I was going to be the star of the show!

I had different plans.

My plans involved a fever of 104, tummy issues (I'll leave it at that for you...), and what turned out to be a wicked ear infection. Instead of driving to Madison for my party, last night we drove to the Children's Emergency Room! I still had some fun there. I'll have Daddy upload some pics of that later. Mommy and Daddy were joking around about how since we spent last year in the hospital on the night before my birthday, and we spent time there this year too, maybe we should do it every year! I'm pretty sure they were joking though.

So instead of my grand fete, we had a much smaller affair today with Mommy, Daddy, and Grandpa and Nana, who drove up to see me. I was feeling better today, but I'm still sick and it hurts to suck on a bottle or sippy. So Mommy decided to feed me with a syringe! It took longer, but it got the job done.

But I wanted to let you all know that I took a couple unassisted steps for the first time yesterday! It was scary, but luckily Mommy and Daddy were right there to catch me if I fell. I'll keep practicing my moves and maybe I'll be able to show them off at my birthday party this coming Saturday! At the very least I'll be able to cruise around by pushing the firetruck walker at Nana and Grandpa's house...

Me and Mommy and Daddy went apple picking today! I had so much fun. I like apples, especially the small ones that I can hold in my hand. I also tried to throw them like my ball, but then Mommy and Daddy took the apples away. They said I'm not supposed to throw apples. What do you do with them then?

Mommy also finished some new pants for me. I love the pants mommy makes for me because they are so soft!

The Week in Review

I've been starting to notice that Mommy only lets me on the computer about once a week to update all of you. I'll try to encourage her to share the computer with me more often, but you know Mommy, she's not very good at sharing the computer... So here's a little snippet of the last week.

The Sunday of my most recent post, Mommy and Daddy and I went to our favorite breakfast joint. It was a little chilly, so Mommy put a hat on me.

I did not like that.

So I took the hat off. Messy hair be damned!

I love the cafe. I get to stare at people and eat puffs at the same time!

On Tuesday, Mommy put me in this ridiculous get-up. Mommy thinks it's very cute, but I think it might be a bit loud for my tastes.

What do you think?

On Wednesday night, I helped Daddy fold the laundry.

And on Thursday night, I modeled my new winter jacket for Mommy. It's a monkey coat!

On Saturday morning, I was at Nana and Grandpa G's house. Marley was there too. Here he is giving me a kiss.

I'm still not sure how I feel about Marley kisses.

Here I am watching the goings-on in the kitchen.

But I always end up playing with Marley again! I tried to play catch with him, but he was too lazy to get the ball I threw for him.

Later on, we went to my Uncle Jason and Aunt Lindsey's wedding!
Mommy took a picture of me and Uncle Kyle and Aunt Jennifer at the reception. In case you're wondering, I'm not smiling because I was very scared of Uncle Kyle's hairy face.

Then Uncle Kyle took a picture of Mommy and Daddy at the same time as Aunt Jennifer, which is why we're not looking at the camera. Mommy still likes this picture best though.

Here's another less than perfect picture that Mommy really likes.

In honor of my 11th month, Mommy gave me a bath. I love baths! Well, really, what I love so much is the water. I could really do without Mommy trying to get me clean or wash my hair. But splashing? Now that's some fun stuff...

Mommy let me feed myself last weekend. I had pumpkin for the first time. It was SOOOO good!

Mostly I used my hands.

I did try using a spoon, but I definitely need more practice with it.

Mommy was very sick this week. She was so sick that she stayed home from work to play with me! She even let me watch tv, which she never does, so I knew it was a very special day. That's why I didn't take a nap. I wanted to spend the whole day with Mommy.

The Week in Review

Sorry I've been gone so long, but I've been SO busy this last week! Last weekend my Nana and Grandpa G came to visit. Then on Monday, Uncle Gene and Aunt Amy came to see me, and they were here until Wednesday. And Thursday and Friday I hung out with Daddy all day! Not to worry, though, Mommy took lots of photos during my time with Nana and Grandpa and video of my funtime adventures for me to share with you.

I had blueberries for the first time yesterday. Oh my goodness are they ever good! Mommy and Daddy were laughing at me a lot when I was eating them, but I still don't understand why.

Here is a photo essay of my experience. Unfortunately, the essay abruptly ends about half-way through blueberries, when my photographer decided it would be better if I was sitting in my high chair so I didn't get myself all stained. I still managed to get VERY messy, but you'll just have to use your imagination for that...
